What We Believe

Teaching

The truths of the bible are at the heart of all our teaching whether young or old, small group or whole congregation.

We use a variety of ways of presenting those truths including traditional teaching and preaching along with small group discussions, film, drama and whatever it takes to get the message across!

2 Timothy 3:15-17  You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.  (16)  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.  (17)  God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.

WORSHIP

Worship is one of the main functions of the church. Praise and worship leads us into the presence of God and as such the Lighthouse puts a high emphasis on music, striving towards excellence. Although the church is not huge, we are fortunate to have a fairly high proportion of accomplished musicians, so we are able to run a number of bands. This in turn gives youngsters an opportunity to develop their skills. We love to praise and worship God, and recognise it is one of the main functions of the church, because it leads us into the presence of God.

Healing

Jesus declared his mission for salvation which included healing the sick and the broken-hearted, and He clearly commissioned the church and all Christians to continue that work, as a demonstration of his Father's love. So we do our best to carry out that commission, ministering life, healing and health to anyone who asks for it. Prayer for physical and heart healing is available during any of our meetings and occasionally we'll run special events with them as a focus. Being carriers of God's Holy Spirit, our people take His healing wherever they go... to work, to their neighbours, anywhere there is need. There are opportunities to take part in various 'freedom' courses which allow people to encounter God very personally and powerfully to bring heart-healing and change.

Children & Youth

Children and youth are WELCOME at our meetings. We don't mind kids being kids - it's ok to run around and have fun. We encourage children and youth to join the worship with instruments, praise capes, parachutes and flags. We treat the safety and well-being of all our children and youth with the utmost importance, and therefore all our children and youth workers have full DBS clearance.

  • The 1st Sunday of each month is a 'Cafe Style' service with an interactive message suitable for all ages.
  • 2nd and 3rd Sundays we hold age appropriate groups during the 'message' for children and youth from age 18months through to Youth (school year 11). There is a room available, with audio link that parents/carers of 0-1 year olds can use if needed during the service.
  • On the 4th Sunday of each month the families meet for Pitstop at the Youth Hut, Lytchett Matravers. We also hold mid-week groups

We have several other mid-week groups for children and families.

  • Little Lights, Baby & Toddler Group
  • Lunch Club (Parents/Carers and 0-5 years)
  • Surge, 7-11 years

Children and youth are not the church of tomorrow - they are the church of today!
